- Oil (10w40) & New Oil Filter – Castrol Actevo X-Tra
- New OEM Air Filter
- Coolant – Engine Ice
- Chain Lube
- Clutch Cable Lube
- White Lithium Grease For Pivot Points
- Brake Fluid
- Spark Plugs
This is all simple stuff to take care of yourself. Oil Changes take around an hour. Coolant take 2 depending on your bike. Air filter takes 5 – 10 minuets. Brake Fluid maybe an hour. Taking care of the bike keeps it in top condition. A poorly taken care of bike is dangerous to ride and will not help you when you go to sell. A bike that is well kept shows and can get you 500-1k more when you go to sell. Also, keeping a simple log will also benefit you when you go to sell, as it shows the perspective buyer that you took good care of the bike!
Soon I will need to do something about the Fork Oil as its been 10 years without touching it. Also really need to get on a new sprocket set and chain. I’m sure the sing arm pivot could use some new grease and possibly bearings. Head Bearings also probably need attention. This is the bit more complicated things that are A) require a bit more technical and mechanical knowledge and B) if you are unsure of doing yourself, better leave them to the professionals. I have faith in my abilities, But I also don’t mind having a qualified person give the bike a one over if its in the shop.
